Is it possible for a mare to wax on one side but not the other?
Also how reliable (if possible) is this sign?
I know that waxing usually takes place 24-48 hours before foaling (if at all) but i have no idea how far gone my my mare is as she was in foal before I brought her and I had no idea. It looks as if she is just starting to wax on one side as there is a little ball on the end of one of her teats. Is this wax or could it just be something else.
Sorry if this is a silly question I have no experience with this and was very unexpected.
Laura, Waxing is not always a reliable sign. There is a very good article on this web site "Predicting Impending Parturation", it will answer this question for you.
