Just got back from the vet, I had to go in one day early post ovulation/breeding. She thought she saw something at the cervix but is not sure. Uterus has tone and not yet in heat. We are rechecking in 3 days, but how much different in size is a 13 day embryo from a 14 day embryo? Thanks!!
Between about day 9 and about day 16 the conceptus (the embryo proper is not yet visible per ultrasound) roughly doubles in size on a daily basis. In other words, a day 13 conceptus is about half the size of a day 14.
If the mare is 13 days post-ovulation, uterine tone and lack of estrus is not likely to be indicative of anything except that the mare is not in estrus. The increase in uterine tone associated with pregnancy doesn't appear until about day 14/15/16.
