I have a maiden mare that as of today is 322 days. She doesn't have a bag to speak of just some puffiness. Yesterday her vulva seemed lightly looser then normal but nothing major. However this afternoon when I checked her vulva the poor girl was swollen. The mare I foaled out before got slightly swollen a couple of days before she foaled but nothing like this girl did. What is you guy's experience with vulva swelling relation to foaling time frame.

Here is a pic of her swelling. Pic on the left is of 304 days and the one on the right is today at 322

This is her yesterday that shows the slight relaxing she did.

She really does look swollen. Since she is a maiden I would say that her body is just reacting to a new experience and unless you notice other concerning changes, then just keep watching her.
However, you should pay close attention to her and call the vet if anything alarming happens. Good luck.

My maiden mare did exactly that at about 130 days as well. Sometimes I think it's just hormone spikes. In your case it could mean impending labor though, I was just pointing out that it can happen any time apparently.
