One of my mares is in estrus right now, based on the usual signs. The only difference this time is sweating at night/early morning. The sweating is found over the croup and loin primarily, but sometimes also the neck and girth area.

The night/early morning temperatures are averaging about 68* here, so not really hot at the time I see the sweat. The daytime temperatures are in the 90's, at which time she sweats but not anything like I see in the early morning when I check on her.

At first I thought it was just dew or standing under a structure where dew runoff was occurring, but the other horses (mares and geldings) are completely dry.

I did a google search for sweating during estrus and only found mention of this with regard to ovulation manipulation by exogenous hormone administration.

Has anyone else noticed this in their mares?
