I bought this tiny little filly at an auction riddled with "barn fever", and very behind in growth, as she had NICE papers, and thought she would catch up, and be a nice snaffle bit prospect, if treated, and fed, and given a chance to catch up in growth. Well... She hasn't picked up weight, built much of any muscle, and I have TRIED EVERYTHING! All she seems to grow is this worm gut, that has been de-wormed to the max. She is smaller than our yearling stallion, and has longer cannons, and she is just awkward, and stunted I never even CONSIDERED she could be PG, until she rolled in the arena, and??? should this little gal have nipples like this, can she even be palpated as tiny as she is??? those nipples look pretty scrunched up in there to me....i certainly wouldnt' worry about that until something more happened. Any time I've ever bought a thin horse, they always put weight back on the belly first. It'll make any horse look prego. Give her some time, and I bet she'll fill out nicely.

I wouldnt worry, I thought the same thing with my little mare that I got at the auction last year, She look so pregnant it was unreal, now she looks just like she should, still smaller than my 2 year old by a long shot (shes coming 4 now)But is finally healthy. A vet with a smaller arm would be able to palpate or do an ultrasound on her if that would make you feel secure but I do agree with Diana, She looks to be too scrunched up in the udder to be preggo, I run a rescue and see this all the time in all the skinny sick horses that come in once they start getting fed right, bellys get HUGE then it evens out to the back and hips given enough time.

I agree with the others. My 2yo rescue did the same thing. We palpated her not pregnant. That udder looks perfectly normal for a young maiden to me.
