Hey guys, I'm a new poster on this board. My mare is just past 200 days into her pregnancy. She got her first pneumabort K shot on Oct 23, due for second one on the 23rd of this month. Last Wed evening she developed a clear discharge from her left nostril only. Called the vet and he said to keep an eye on it and see if it changes color. Sat morning it had turned yellow. I called the vet then went by and picked up some sulfa powder he set out for me at the clinic and I started her on it immediately. As of today, the discharge is still yellow, but hasn't gotten any darker in color. Her appetite is still voracious, she's been drinking plenty of water and eating all her hay, and her temp has been fine. Can mares still contract rhino even after they've been vaccinated? She lives in a closed herd with 3 other horses, so I'm really scratching my head over what she could have. The vet wants to give it several days to see if the sulfa meds work. Anyone have any suggestions or words of advice?
