Europa and i have been in colic hell all week...she began to colic on Tuesday morning and was taken to the hospital by evening. By Wednesday morning she was in surgery,. it has been touch and go but this morning (Friday) she seems to have turned the corner and we are guarded in thinking she will recover. It is weird coincidence this mare would have major surgery two years in a row. Last year a torn mesentery and this year what appears to be anterior enteritis |

Terry, I'm glad to hear she is doing better. Has she stopped refluxing? What bad luck, two surgeries, on the same mare, in 2 years Are the two incidents in any way connected? Sending good healing thoughts for a continueing recovery! |

I am so sorry Terry....I hope she recovers completely for you. Do they think it is tied to her foaling? Her foals are ususally pretty good size? Hugs |

She is much better today.... Appears these two instances are unrelated and neither a true colic. no explanation for current situation...looks like she ate a bunch of shavings LOL |

Ahhhh Terry! I am glad that she is doing better. We had a gelding who ate a bunch of shavings...those nafcore shavings. (They are off the market now.) Anyway, he had colic surgery for an impaction and a couple of years later is doing fine. I could never understand why they eat or taste shavings! LOL! My heart goes into my throat everytime I see a horse taste testing shavings! |

Terry, I'm sorry it took me so long to respond. My husbands mother passed away a week ago and I've been dealing with that. I'm so sorry to hear your mare had colic surgery, but it turned out alright. Thank God!!! I'm so happy to hear that! |
