Has anyone ever has a negative blood test, but it turned out the mare really was pregnant?

eCG or ES test specifically. Thanks!

eCG (per BET Labs):

This test has approximately a 5% false negative rate and a 10% false positive rate.

Estrone sulfate (per FoalProof):

* Specificity: 98% (probability of a negative result for non-pregnant mares, 389 mares tested).
* Sensitivity: 97.1% (probability of a positive result for mares 120 or more days pregnant, 312 mares tested).

Thanks Jos! I've been on their website before but I'm unsure on how to convert the units. They measure using pg/ml, what would that convert to in ng/ml?

These numbers are in pg/ml. What would this chart look like if it were in ng/ml?
Thanks!

1 picogram = 0.001 nanograms, so multiply 1 ng/ml by 1,000 to get the number in pg/ml. In other words, 1 ng/ml = 1,000 pg/ml. Conversely, divide pg/ml by 1,000 to get ng/ml. 1 pg/ml = 1/1000 ng/ml or 0.001 ng/ml.

There, now you're good and confused, go and use this converter :-)

Thank you Jos!

What would be considered a normal/good number for a pregnancy between 230-300 days? I've done research and everyone just says "over 1,000". Basically I'm just trying to figure out if they mean "over 1,000" as in 1,200 or 5,000?

Thanks!

It doesn't matter. Anything over 1,000 is fine.

So would 6900 be an acceptable number?

It's >1,000 pg/ml, so it's in the "fine" range. :-)
