My last maiden mare didn't show until the last month. Now, my other maiden mare, she should be at 315 days, is getting very w-i-d-e, but doesn't show deep at all. She has a huge, deep girth, so I'm thinking she's carrying up in her ribs! My last maiden foaled at 330 days, but I don't believe Summer will. Also, Summer has always been a thinner horse because she is low man around her and gets chased from feeder to feeder. That's why I know something is up with her- she is not carrying the weight anywhere else except her wide ribs and no dent in the flank area, which used to be considerably hollow. Anyone had this problem with maidens? I'll post some pictures in a minute.

Okay, here are the photos.
This is Summer's wide ribs

This is a filled out hollow between her ribs and hips. She is ALWAYS hollow here.http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k144/lorilynfarms/pregnant242.jpg
This is her deepset ribs. This is a bad picture. There was another one that showed her belly much lower than the area the hind leg meets the belly. My other horses have a belly even with that skin flap- her lies much lower than that by about 6 inches. I was down a hill, so I didn't capture that...http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k144/lorilynfarms/pregnant243.jpg

My maiden is the same, got a lot of "nope, not pregnant" from people looking at her pics, but in person everyone is saying, yes, definately. And she just looks different for her... but she isn't showing more than a bit of a wide belly, and a tiny drop behind her girth. She does change shapes a lot according to the weather, if it is cold and storming she does something with that baby and tucks it up and gets real slab sided, but then pooches it back out when it warms up.
