Well today I got a good look at my mare Lady.. Her belly is 2x the size it was last year when she was 6 months along.. (currently a little under 6 months) You can feel the baby starting to move alot and kick around some. Its leg is huge from what I felt and her belly seems to be dropping!! She doesnt have milk but didnt last year either til after she foaled. This is her 2nd baby. Just clearifying my position- When she was bred she was given a "heat shot" which would have made her abort any foal she may have been carrying. (she was preg. checked first) I am really worried cause the horses just got moved about 2-3 months ago could this have made her to where she is going to foal sooner than expected?? IM LOST

Mary, I moved my mare about two and a half months before she foaled. It didn't cause any problems. In fact, moving her was good as it gets her time to build up immunity to local flora.

But as far as answering your other concerns, I'm sorry, I have no idea. I hope you get some reassurance soon. Please keep us posted.

simply moving her is not going to make her foal sooner than she would normally.....
it sounds like you're pretty positive of her breed dates, I wouldn't worry about it at all....
It's typical for maidens to carry TINY and tight, as their muscles have not stretched to accommodate pregnancy before...this being her 2nd, it's normal for her to look bigger than last time. Keep breeding her, and she'll look prego all the time, like my old girls! LOL

LOL! ALL my horses look prego this year...big ole grass/hay belly syndrome, I think. Unless, of course, my stallion and my gelding are due to foal as well! LOL!

My "experienced" broodmare looks prego all the time, like Diana mentions. My one maiden "went back" to her non-foaling shape while the other...I believe she has that broodmare belly appearance for life now.
