I have no idea what my mares are doing. they are in foal, yet do not have the big bellies they had last year. These are seasoned mares, and have always seemed to follow the same pattern year after year. Now one is showing irregular signs of heat, and the other one has milk, but is only halfway bagged up. She also has white specks in her milk...what is this, and does it mean anything significant? Anyone else have mares that are confused?
They are both due in three weeks. One has not come back into heat, but I have not felt any foal movement. The other one shows signs of heat any time she goes near the young stud colt we have here for training. She ignores the geldings. I'm wondering where their bellies went this year?
