Tonight I noticed my mare going bonkers chomping at her sides, and hind quarters and scratching her body on anything she could including me after I offered her a helping hand, breathing really strong and her belly jumping all around... she would take a bite of her hay and do laps around her 30 x 14 stall then come back to me wanting love and scratched more I know it's not collic she pooped and peed, but just kept up her weird behavior I never seen her act like this before she usually eats her grain and drinks alot and munches on hay and I don't exist after feed time at night but tonight as I left the barn she just stood at her gate looking at me, her bag is about mid way and I have been feeling and seeing her baby moving for about 2 months now and her belly is getting really odd shaped kind of poking out pointy on both sides and her underside is quite round her teats and body have veins that you can feel and see bulging is all this trying to tell me something about her foaling or is this just normal? I'm completely new at all of this foaling stuff, any help would be greatly appreciated from anyone on here She's all shedded out and kept clean and bug free PLEASE Help me help her!
Kristin

Sounds like either your getting super close, or the foal is repositioning :-)

The day my mare foaled last year, she was really "clingy", stood in the corner after I fed her, then after feeding the rest of the horses, I came back and watched her for about 30 minutes, we had a wonderful filly that evening :-) Do you have any pictures?

Samantha: Yes I have pics but photobucket is being a real butthead with me! Yesterday her bag was filling up, then last night she was flat, now this morning shes bagged up again this is making me crazy so today she has an US at 1:30 here in E. TN see whats really going on since she first guessed mid June so we'll see if it has changed, does the baby seem to get quiet close to the big day because I use to see it jumping all around alot now it moves but not as harshly it just seem to be sticking out the sides more, poor girl she has the funniest shape to her belly right now I was getting worried about the baby I didn't feel it move for awhile now this morn. I was in the right place at the right time I felt it thumping and relocating it felt like! how do the breeding farms do it I be a nervouse wreck. once is enough at least for a long while!!!!

I need help - bought preg mare four months ago - she foaled last year July 29,(07). She has been bagged (full) 2 weeks (yellowish). She eats normally, her tail head is soft - this morning she is sweating neck and flanks - dripping with sweat - she swishes her tail and stomps her feet (I presumed at flies) Could someone tell me if this is normal and how long it will be until she foals? Thanks

Nancy sounds like any time now,i think her stomping is from labor pain, and so is the sweating, let us know what she is doing.Happy and healthy foaling vibes to you.
