I bought a pinto mare in November was told hse was bred and due in March--well its now April no foal--wasn't too worried --last year was told by ultrasound my mare was due in Feb and she foaled in June so..........
But this mare is not big at all--tummy wise. She is only 14 hands or a touch under and was bred to a pony size AQHA. She does have some edema just in front of her udder but really not much of an udder--maybe a little fluid in there. I am starting to wonder if she is bred or maybe slipped the foal? I haven't seen anything in the pasture. She is already sold--have a deposit on her and I really don't want the expense of a vet bill to have her checked. As far as I know we have had no fescue hay. Anyway I will take some pics of her udder to show you but in the mean time can you post pics of your mares udders like just before they filled up big???

Also want to add she has not come into heat and I have a stud-- she actually puts her ears back at him anytime she goes near his fence

I have a mare who is thought to be about 16-19 years of age. I would love to breed her to my quarter horse stud. Problem: She has not had a foul since I got her (11 years), but her utter get swollen to the point where she seems tender. She will let my husband milk her out and the color of the milk is the color of weak coffee with light cream. Any ideas? Please respond, she is a sweet mare.

Susan I kinda have the same problem. I have an older mare who last foaled 8/06. the colt was weaned @ 5 months and has been off the place for 1 yr. The mare still has a bag and I can get clear fluid out of it. She has been a broodmare her whole life, although I have only had her 2 yrs
I was going to breed her last yr but couldnt catch her in heat. Pic included taken last week
