So my mare was bred May 7, 9, 11, 14 of last year, and I know their gestation period is 11 months, but I know you have to add like a week or something, but that it kinda changes around. Does anyone think that she will be due this month or next month? I know it's hard to be accurate about it, but I'd kinda like to hear what other people think, since I'm new to this foaling stuff and everything. Thanks :-)

Average foaling date is 340 days from last time mare was bred :-)

As Tracy wrote, 340 is the "standard" number. My old vet used 342, and evidently most of my mares listened to him....

One easy way to calculate is 11 months and 11 days. That would give you an spproximate due date of April 25. So, I do not think your mare will foal this month.

The important dates I watch are
1. day 300, the earilest the mare can deliver and have a chance of saving the foal
2. day 320 since that's the beginning of the range of normal due dates
3. day 340-342 since that's "full term"

If one goes over this, I am typically on the verge of hysteria. I know some go over a year. Thankfully the longest one of mine has ever carried as 344.
