Do you guys think it's ok if I mix my mare's Strategy and Omelene 300 together? She's done well on Strategy but I was told that I should probably get her on a Mare and Foal feed, so I got the Omelene, but I don't want to change her diet completely. I am also using Mare Plus. Am I giving her too much supplements?? I've heard that that can mess up the foal...

Emily, I think you will be fine mixing the Strategy and Omelene, while you switch her over. Just mix til you use up the Strategy.

In terms of the supplements, it could be too much, or not enough or "just right". The only way to tell, is to gather up the label/ingredients/analysis of both products. See what's in both, at what levels, and compare it to the nutritional requirements of a bred or lactating mare. If you are "over" any of the nutrients, check to see if its one that could cause a problem, or if it will simply be flushed out in the urine. (ie too much lysine or calcium is no big deal... but I suspect too much copper could be an issue)

You can use the chart I gave you in another post, as a baseline-- and just compare what you are feeding to what is required to get your answer.
