Has anyone ever heard of a cap with a face shield you can put on a young horse for its first trailer ride? A friend of mine said he saw it on RFDTV on the Rick Lamb show, he is interested in getting one for his young colt. Any info would be appreciated.

I bought one from the Equine Expo here in So. CA. It is called Face savers I believe. It is really for all horses. Leather lined with fleece, goes on kind of like a halter, with hard covering over the poll and a face plate down the forhead and nose. Sort of looks like meideval horse headware :-) I am going to use it on my 4 year old who is traveling to Arizona for a horse show. He has only done short trailer rides. All the horse clinicians were supporting it's use. If that is the same one...

Wow, I wish I'd know about that two years ago. About a couple of years ago when I was loading Baby into my trailer,(a step-up 2 horse slant), she had her two front feet in, and I was urging her in the rest of the way when she decided to rear up. She hit the bridge of her nose on the top of the trailer where it opens. It left a nasty scar right above wear the noseband of her halter rests on her nose. That equifacesaver would have prevented that. I think I'll buy one for my foal. Thanks for bringing it up Diane.
