I am really interested to hear people's thoughts on this too as my mare had a really bad time passing the placenta and with vet help it took several hours. I asked the vet if it was likely to happen again and she told me to give her something in her food before but I can't remember what now!!
i am told that alfalfa can make the sack stronger ( something with the nutriants) and this should help keep the sack intacked as she passes it but can be harder for the baby to break free of.
