Hi Peoples... I am new here.
Okay I am adopting a younger mare right now, She is pregnant (was a surprise to me when I found out YESTERDAY, when she started to drip a semi-clear fluid from her udder)I am wondering what the timeline is now before she drops? any way of telling? I need to move her before she has her baby... and I need to know when that will be...
AHH stressing out lol... I have no experience with pregnant horses....

M.B., have you had the pregnancy confirmed or just thinking she is pregnant since she has fluid coming from her udder? If she's not for sure pregnant I would recommend a vet to come out to check since other things besides pregnancy can make a mare drip fluid (mastitis, etc.) If you are positive she is pregnant I would say she is getting close and keep an eye on her. Once a mare's milk changes from clear to white (like whole milk) they usually deliver within 24 hrs. The tricky thing is some mares take days to change and others change within hours! Good luck and please keep us posted on your outcome :-)

Hi M.B. Welcome!

I agree with Tracy. Do you know how far along she is? I would also make sure she is not with any other horses right now. It sounds like she is close. Good luck!

Hi MB...Welcome! Is there any way you can post some pictures of your gal so we can see her udder and some side views. Does she looked dropped or "V". Is there a way to have a vet out? Keep us posted!

Hey thanks for the help... the thing is... I can bring a vet out... but she is still mostly 'feral'.. I can touch her and halter her... but I am so far the only person she is accepting touch from...
So no I havent had the pregnancy confirmed by a vet yet... but she is VERY round.. and we can now see the baby moving and kicking.
I have started trying to check for signs now...
I really am a newbie at this lol. Her udder is still tiny, and not dripping right now, but you can see where it did drip, and where it dried. I have tried to touch her udder without success so far...
How do I post pictures? I just moved her the other day off the adoption field. Now she is with one other mare who is very passive and quiet. Jewel (my mare) can easily be moved to the round pen to be kept by herself... the barn is partways up... just need the dividers in the stalls etc.
So I have some good pics of her belly, and I will take some udder shots tomorrow after school. But dont know how to post them.... post them on another forum and give the link?

Well she looks pregnant to me :-) If you are for sure seeing foal movement I would say yes she is! That's wonderful that you adopted her, she's very pretty. Keep us posted, I love those new babies!
