I was planning on breeding in April/May of 2008. We were originally going to do it this year (2007), but decided to wait. Through this whole summer I've been actively trying to figure out when my mare is in heat. Well, in short, I can't really! Of course I don't know what to look for anyways.. We are trying to stay away from ultrasound and other methods to just tell if she is in heat or not. I know they didn't do those things in the old days!! So, I'm asking for any visual signs that should be able to tell me. Like is there any discharge of any kind, etc. around her privates? I've never noticed an attitude change in her at all.
No real noticable change. I do what they did in the old days, I use my teaser. Most reliable part of my farm is my trusty teaser, he can tell me more about a mare than a vet can.
