My mare has been in heat for 6 day's now and has been ultrasounded with a 40 mm follicle, but when we went to inseminate her her cervix was closed up tight. Is this normal? Could she be inseminated anyways? Just wondering how many people have run into this and if they were able to breed anyways sucessfully. Thanks!
Hi Christa I breed my 12 year old Section B Welsh maiden mare back in April, her cervix was soft but sealed up. I had a heck of a time finding the opening, I found a slight indentation and gentle wiggled my finger until it opened up. It was a first for me. The mare is preg. on the one insemination. She had been live covered a few years ago before I got her and did not settle, I'm guessing it was due to her cervix being sealed up. Good luck, Heather
