It seems like I have heard that you should not expose a mare to any chemicals, i.e., no vaccinations, no wormer, no chemical sprays of any kind for the first 90 days. Can someone give me some input on this?
My poor mare is getting chewed alive by gnats, and I have to take her next week for her 15 day ultrasound post breeding....I'm hesitant to put anything on her but she is miserable and keeping her inside all the time isn't so great for the colt on her side!
I'm wondering a similar thing as flies are starting to come out where we are. I'm doing an aromoatherapy course and my tutor said I could make a spray with citronella or lemon, lavender (as long as no history of miscarriage) and water or aloe vera juice.
I didn't know about vaccinations though and my mare is due a booster (she had to start a new course as I had forgotten) at 4 or 6 weeks in a week or two. Should I wait until after that to send her to stud?
