Just wondering what kind of long term effects this can have on a mares reproductive life. Also what are the chances she has had this before or of having a reoccurance? The mare that I co-own was diagnosed with this after her placentitis foal was born (she became ill within 24hrs). She was purchased from an auction so her previous reproductive info is somewhat sketchy. She foaled on the 8th and is getting antibiotics and just finished her oxcytocin treatment. She is responding well and her discharge has finally lessened. She has poor vaginal conformation as it sloping and her anus is receding, she is only 10yrs. and has had 5 live foals, 1 yr where she either aborted or they could not get her in foal and one foal either born dead or died shortly after birth. She has not been swabbed yet. Thanks
