I have a mare, that for the last 6 seasons, appears to be going into a lactational anestrus. We have never tried to breed on a foal heat, but have tried on the 1st heat thereafter, and others, even attempting to short cycle. We can only get her pregnant once the foal is weaned. I have recently been told that treating the mare with domperidone for 10 days prior to foaling is helpful in these situations. Anyone ever hear of this?
mmm we have some mares who wont conceive while nursing, seems to basically act like a contraceptive
