I have a friend that owns a big bay quarter horse mare. From what i can remember from the vet class i took at college, this mare shows all of the signs of nymphomania, at least just observing her in the field. She gets very aggressive in the field, leased this mare for a local county fair, she nearly kicked the snot out of my fiance at the time and still show sign of heat.

My concern is that the last time i was out there this friend announced that she was going to breed her, is that good thing if she has nymphomania?
Would that a good thing the foal once its born?

All the answers that you are looking for will depend entirely upon what the cause is.
  • If the cause is a Granulosa Cell Tumour then she is probably unbreedable;
  • If the cause is submissive behaviour, then although breedable, it is likely to make little difference;
  • If it is as a result of bad handling, then she could become (even more) dangerous with a foal at foot.
Sorry not to be of much assistance, but one cannot tell without knowing the cause!

thank you for the advice, as far as i know and my friend knows this mare has always been like this. since when she first got her at year and a half old. Came from an abusive situation.
