I have an 12yr old warmblood broodmare. She has stood open the last two breeding seasons due to being a dominant mare and not showing proper heats.
I have her turned out with a 2yr old stud colt who is quite studdy and knows how to tease and knows when a mare is in heat. They have been together now for 15 days and she has not shown any signs of heat. He teases her throughout the day but other than squealing for the mare there is no other sign.
When I first bought her, her heats were strong, when ridden she would stand very still when she was in heat and not move and became very cuddly and loving to humans and horses.
She will be vet checked to see what is going on with her but I am looking for any ideas until that point.
I know 15days is not really a normal cycle but I am sure she was not in heat before she had been put with the stud.
I use a supplement from Formula 707 called Super E. It really helps regulate the mares cycles and after being on it for about a week all of my mares will cycle, even the 21 year old mare.
