she is a 22year old standardbred mare she was in with a colt in feb march last year where he did get her she looked infoal in around sept oct last year then it dissapeared i asumed she lost it due to being old but over the last 2 to 3 weeks she out on a lot of weight and has produced some milk but she dosnt look infoal her attatude had changed to shes become very attached to a 3 yr old filly in the field and attacks any person or horse that goes near them shes ok with me but no one else
today she didnt want to go out in the field and was quite happy to stay in her box and eat hay all day and sleep (this is very unlike her she always wants to be out no matter the weather and it was nice today) she also wanted me to scratch her tail and the area very close to her vulva she also seemed unable to get comfy when standing to go to sleep

heres some photos she changes colour from dark bay in winter to bright bay in summer so these photos are the same horse
sept oct 2007

Please read the instructions on how to post links to images. You will find the instructions in the help section (follow that link). Once you've done that, please repost your post with the links so that they do not make the board excessively wide.

Thank you.

Lindsey, it's all a guessing game if you never had her confirmed pregnant. You could buy the WeeFoal test for about $35.00 and see what result you get. Keep us posted :-)

i hope shes going to be ok

Lindsey, what a great relationship you both have. I hope your mare is pregnant, that would be fantastic!

I will send healthy vibes your way, that your mare will not have any bad health issues.

Lindsey,

So glad that you have found a way to get the vet out. It should give you some piece of mind. Very endearing face your mare has I can see why you know she is so special. Warm hugs for a good outcome.

hi i dont think i can take waiting for the vet coming on mon to tell me if my old girls infoal.

i forgot to mention in about march 2007 my girl had a torn vulva (the little colt was practicing on my girl) about 2in in side so the vet says (yesterday when i rang to make sure they would send the vet i wanted) if she is infoal shes going to have to have a sergical cut in her vulva because her skin in the area where the tear was isnt able to strech like it should so she will tear really bad and need surgery to fix it while if they cut her it wont be as bad to fix.

i dont no what i want now id love a foal off her but i dont want to loose her while she gives birth and if its hormonal shes going to be on drugs for the rest of her life.

i now dont think shes infoal because shes not big and her udders dont seem to be getting any larger either. if she was infoal she would be due this month the colt was seen on her around march so im just doubting she is now ill post some photos of her from today

Lindsey, she doesn't look pregnant to me but horses can fool you. I would keep the appt for Monday as the vet is the only one that can tell you for sure.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOW my mare is INFOAL (shes doing a blood test to confirm it) AND the vet says she wont have any problems acctually giving birth to it the scar tissue isnt as stretchy so it shouldnt cause any problems the main worry is that she has a paralyzed larynx so she will find it hard to catch her breath when in labour. shes not as far a long as i thought she has at least 6 weeks left she says she couldnt feel anything in her pelvis yet. im so happy yeah
