Will a pregnancy test kit for people be just as valid to test for pregnancy in mares?

Carole, you are not the first person to ask this :-). No, it will not work for horses. I know there are tests out there you can use specifically for horses but I'm not sure where or how much. Unfortunately it boils down to having the vet come out to know for sure.

Yes, Jos told us about the "Pregnamare" kit. Just thought I'd ask since it would have to be ordered, but every Rx has those test kits. Oh well....

my grams told me of a homemade test dont know if it works but you could try it. somehow you get her to pee in a glass jar then seal it tight and leave it in the dark for 1 wk if it looks kinda fuzzy on top shes prego. She says it works but idk

What's funny about old wives tales is that someone had to do this originally. What was that person thinking when he/she did this? LOL. What is fuzzy anyway? Do you mean moldy?

And what's really funny is, I'm probably going to try it... LOL!!!

Im not sure exactly what fuzzy means but yeah I think if it grows mold its pregnant pee lol.
That is the funny part about them and even after looking at the person who tells it to you like they are nuts we go home and ry it. lol
