I have a mare that seems to be an every other year mare. She has yet to carry two live foals to term in a row (not for lack of trying). This year she concieved after her second breeding. At the 14 day check all looked well and the pregnancy measured 1.8 cm. At the 22 day check the pregnancy was off to the side and was upside down? It seemed okay however. At the 40 day check the embyo was still there but the fetus was dead (the vet said it had fibrous tissue throughout). Was the embyo being upside down a sign of its fate? Or does that happen once in a while with no ill effects? Thanks
The mare is pregnant again - fingers are crossed (and I will probably keep her on regumate for my own piece of mind ;) )
