Hi there everyone just posting to ask whether anyone on here has any experience with a broodmare that has Wobblers due to a trauma injury? The mare in question had an accident whilst at stud 3 yrs ago and when checked in her paddock was suffering from hind limb unco-ordination. Luckily the stud owners regocnised the symptoms as they too have a mare with wobblers. She was rushed to the vets for spinal x rays which were assessed and a conclusion of grade 3/4 wobblers was reached - the vet also found some arthritis in her neck. She was preg tested in foal at the time and went on to have the foal absolutely fine - she gets up and down ok and rolls and gallops about her field like any other horse. 2 years on and the symptoms have definatley not worsened got better if anything. Now she is an ex AQHA performance mare being sold at only 1200 - $2400 because the owner is giving up and of cause because of the wobblers. She is 17 and has had 3 foals that i know of by natural cover. What do people here think about the chances of covering this mare again now she has the wobblers. We don't do AI with our stallion so if the final conclusion is that she wouldn't cope with live cover then i won't buy her. I'm willing to take the risk in all other aspects as shes such a lovely friendly mare and of course you just don't come by them this cheap. I know wobblers can worsen at any point but to get just one foal out of her would more than double her cost. I don't know a hell of a lot about wobblers brought on through trauma much of the internet results are all about young TB horses who have OCD due to nutrtion - so any further info from anyone would help. Cheers
