Hi there...first congrats to the beautiful new babes, they are popping out all over I see!!!

Ok my mare Grannika was ultra sounded pregnant today at 18 days!!!
But the vet said he is not happy with the shape of the embryo (it isnt an embryo yet is it but i cant think of the word)
He said it wasnt round like it should be but like a blob of paint on the u s screen! My question is has anyone heard of this and can it develop normally or is there something serious wrong?
Would it be better to get rid and start again or leave it and wait...does anyone know if this can progress normally? The vet wants to look again friday!

Your vet is wrong!!! Do not start again!!!!

Take a look at the illustrated article on this site about embryos - it should explain things for you (follow that link).

Saffron,

It sounds like Grannika is pregnant and things are happening as they should. Jos is the expert. I know that I ultrasound to see if pregnant and then to see a heartbeat. So I believe ultrasound again and check for the heartbeat. Fingers crossed
