I have a mare that had her foal March 21st. Well, she's been showing heat signs for the last three days but will not allow the stallion to mount. Isn't it too early for her 30 day heat cycle? Could she be just going through the motions and not really ready yet? Today, she allowed the stallion to sniff on her, but won't let him closer. I guess my question is...are the 30 day heats pretty regular to the 30 day mark or can they be a week early?
The average range for foal-heat ovulation is 5-15 days after foaling, and the so-called "30 day heat" ovulation will occur 21 days after that, so the average "30 day heat" ovulation will be somewhere between 26 and 36 days... She sounds to be pretty average!
