The person that is leasing my mare this year has had me put her on a product called "body builder." Apparantly, one of the side effects is that it causes the mare to cycle more regularly. I was wondering if any of you have used it before or have any info/wisdom?
I tried to breed this mare via frozen semen twice last year. The first time she had an anovulatory follicle. The second time, everything fell into place but no pregnancy.
I do plan to have the vet use the oxytocin protocol this time around.
I would ask them for a copy of the peer-reviewed research that confirms their claims. I'm not aware of any...
About 10% of cycles involve AHF's, so she's not abnormal. It might just be the luck of the draw.
I'd probably head for a top-notch equine reproduction veterinarian, preferably a theriogenologist, and have them evaluate the mare - it might be a cheap starting point!
