This is my first time ever breeding. I have decided that I am going to breed next june and do it AI. I understand what they are going to do at the stallion end but what do I need to do with my vet becides a breeding soundness exam? This is my mares first too! When do I call my vet to see if its time to order? Why do they send two doses? Thanks for any help!
Sometimes the shipper will only deal with your Vet, sometimes they will deal with you.
When your mare comes into heat, you'll have your VEt come out and check her, he may have to come out more than once, but he can tell you when she'll ovulate, once you know that, you order the shipment.
You want to know in advance what days they collect on, and how much leeway you have on the days they don't normally collect.
It can be hard to pinpoint the exact ovulation time, unless you've been tracking her heats for several months, so that is why they will ship 2 doses.
