Question about diagnostics for a pre-purchase breeding soundness exam for a 7 yo maiden mare... I would expect a thorough external exam to evaluate vulvar confirmation, spec exam of vagina and cervix, ultrasound of uterus and ovaries, cytology and culture. If everything looks good, would you all still do a endometrial biopsy?
As long as the mare has not had breeding problems (e.g. not got pregnant for an unknown reason or lost a pregnancy - particularly after 40 days) then I would not worry with a biopsy at this point. If she subsequently has problems not getting pregnant, then later you can do it.
Thanks much Jos. She has never been bred so will proceed with the above. Thanks again.
