Does anyone have any experience with cheaper models of ultrasounds originating from china? It seems I can get a brand new ultrasound with all of the modern bells and whistles for under 2k. I don't personally know anyone using these.
My use would be for scanning my own mares during the breeding season. I don't need something that goes from farm to farm and scan 20 times a day but do need something reliable.

I have seen these on EBAY and wondered the same thing. How reliable, how well do they work, and mostly what if you have a problem that requires service? There is the old addage "you get what you pay for" and also "too good to be true". I think I would definitely want to talk with someone who has bought and used one before buying from China thru Ebay.
Check out the post further down about "anyone doing their own ultrasounds". It has a lot of information about ultrasounds.

For something that important I would stick with recognised proven brands with service agents and back up available.

There is a discussion on the topic of purchasing ultrasounds to be found in this thread on the board.
I would encourage everyone to review my comments made therein, particularly in reference to Universal Ultrasound, a major provider of ultrasound units (both new and used), and whom are gracious enough to support this web site. We like to support those who support us - but it's worth noting that we do "vet" (no pun intended! ) our sponsors for quality products and services before accepting sponsorship.
