We need to delay ovulation by one day, is there anything we can give the mare to do this?

You can try a double dose of Regumate; a dose of ECP; or a dose of P&E. P&E is the best bet.

None guaranteed, but worth a go. :-)

Jos

I had a mare u/s with a 4.5 follicle on Friday. I couldn't get semen until late Monday. I was told to give her 10ccs of Regumate fri, sat and sun. I went ahead and did so, and the follicle held. She was bred tonight and given a shot of deslorelin.

This was the first I had heard of using Regumate to "stall" a follicle. Is this a common/safe practice??

Thank you.

It does sometimes work, and as in a case like yours, there is little to lose by trying it! A double-dose is often used.

Alternative treatments that may delay ovulation are ECP (estradiol cypionate) or a dose P&E (the number of daily doses give equates to the number of delays to ovulation).
