We have a mare that is causing us hell to get infoal. Her last foal was 2 years ago.She is relatively young about 13.At around 16-18 days she will put up a folicle of 40 and is fit for covering according to the vet.But she will not and I mean not stand for the teaser(top class teaser). The mare then ovulates. And a day or two later she will stand for the teaser no problem and no chance of going in foal.
Has anyone seen this behaviour before? Is there anyway of correcting her cycle or is there away around it? Thanks in advance
You can have her AI'd with fresh semen if you have the stallion handy.
Have you tried tranquilizer on her? How about a shot of Banamine? She may by extra sensitive while building a follicle, the tranq. may calm her anxiety over the anticipation and the Banamine will help any soreness or pain.
