Hi, I have a question about live cover. My mare is a maiden and was in very obviouse heat when at home(winking, backing into gelding, ect). When taken to the stallion on Sunday night would not show and acted very scared. Next morning would not show to two different stallions. Breeder wasn't convinced she was in heat and ultra sounded her. She had a 40+ follicle and so he went ahead and allowed the stallion to service her dispite her objections. My question is the breeder is planning on breeding her again Wednesday night, with a follicle that big on Monday night would this last breed be post ovulatory and be more harmful than good? I would usually go on the behavior of the mare to accept the stallion , but she has not been showing for him anyway and I believe the breeder would allow the stallion to mount no matter the objections of my filly.
If you are not using a vet to confirm ovulation then I would most definately use a teaser.
