Anyone know where I can get a mare pregnancy test? I did a search on the web, but it seems like they're only in other countries (than US). I'm trying not to break the bank getting the test done. The reason I'm needing this is because this mare has fooled us before with having signs of heat, and also being examined internally at 9 months and not seeming to have a foal in there; she foaled at 11 months. There's a buyer for this mare if she is NOT pregnant, so it's important for me to find out. She was bred in mid August last year. Anyone know of a site with a prego test for mares? Thanks!

There is no "over the counter" pregnancy test available in North America for late term pregnancy. The test you need to conduct is for either total estrogens or estrone sulfate levels. Note that the other test most commonly done - for eCG or PMSG (they're both the same thing) is available commercially (as the "Pregnamare Kit") but it must be performed before 90 days of pregnancy in order to have any degree of reliability - and even then there is a fair degree of false positive/negative.
You should contact your vet and have them draw blood and send it off for estrogen assay as above. If you have a buyer the +/- $100 shouldn't be an issue - or if it is, perhaps get the buyer to pay (or split) the cost!
