JOS OR ANYONE ELSE. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO REDUCE GEL IN SOME STALLIONS THAT SEEM TO PRODUCE 4 TO 1. ARE THERE ANY MIRACLE CURES OTHER THAN TURN OUT TIME ETC. ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.THANKS
The only thing I can think of is to keep him away from mares on collection days, and then collect him with as little time as possible. I have heard that the gel is increased as he teases, so if you could get him to drop without even approaching a mare too closely and collect him right off, then he might have less gel. But if he mounts, backs off, mounts, backs off, etc., he will produce more gel.
Don't know, as I'm not an expert. But this is something I remember from school. How quickly can you collect/how many jumps?
Hope you find a solution, and if so, please share it. My stallion produces a lot of gel when he live covers, but it's because he's right next to the mares. This season, I'm going to seclude him before breeding because he's going to be collected.
