This foal is 9 month, he is only nursing and not eating any grain or hay; he was weaned with three other foals, but got crazy and didn't eat, so they were forced to put him back with the mother, but she is getting exhausted now, any idea what to do ?
Don't know much more, this is a question on another forum, thank you.

Sometimes at weaning a foal will not eat but at 9 months I would think he has been eating something.I know sometimes they will drop weight when weaned, pace and throw a fit.I would suggest taking the colt back off the mare and putting him back in with the other foals, take the mare to another farm for a week or so if possible,or stall him next to his mother so they can touch noses but he cant nurse. It takes several weeks sometimes for the mare to dry up completely.Good Luck
