I have a filly, she just turned one. We noticed a little balloon protruding from her vagina as she was laying down. We got her up and it went back in. It is paper thin and air filled. I called my vet, but she is too busy to come untill Wednesday. So I have been searching the web. She is fine, no temperature, and every morning when all the youngsters sleep it is there. One person emailed me that a friend had a filly with a protruding hymen, and they poped it.....
One website I found has a picture of the hymen and it looks very much alike.
Has anyone had any experiance with this?
I called the large animal hospital, ( far away from me) and they had never heard of it.
Thank you!
Amrita

I would recommend waiting until your veterinarian has evaluated it before doing anything, as although it may well be (and probably is) a protruding hymen, there are other possibilities too, which is opened could be a problem - the bladder springs to mind for example!

I intend to wait. Do you know of a site where I could find more information on it?
Thank you.
