Autumn Amber is our little filly who will be one month old tomorrow. A few days ago, she started losing hair around her nose and mouth 1/3 of the way up to her eyes, under her eyes and inside her rear legs. She doesn't seem to be itching in these spots (only on her side on the left, and only occasionally there). Is this normal for so young a foal? If not, what could it be? Thanks for your help.

Jan,
I would love to post some pictures but I can't seem to figure out how. Please give me some instructions and I will post Monday (I have no internet at home yet and I am off work until Monday). Thanks! (and thanks for the info about the hair loss. I just needed some peace of mind, and if I don't know something, I will ask someone who does!

Jan,

I just wanted to let you know that you were right - Autumn is just losing her baby hair, which is light sorrel. Her new coat looks like it is going to be a warm dark brown. She sure is sweet! Thanks again for your post.
