Does anyone know of a way to transport a very pregnant horse that has had injury to hindquarters? The injury makes it hard for her to turn in a small space and if she tries to back up quickly, she may fall. I have seen the slings and harness contraptions that are sometimes used on the Animal Cops shows. Any ideas?

I am having my vet check her for her ability to travel, but wanted to toss this out there. So far, I haven't found any who use the contraption. Thanks

I would recommend loose in a box stall in an air-ride tractor trailer. Contact a commercial shipper if you do not have access to a tractor-trailer unit of your own, but make sure that the commercial shipper is using one, as not all do.

I thought I'd answered your posts, but I guess not. I want to thank-you for your suggestions. As it turns out, I was able to transport her in a three-horse slant trailer, as she was able to lean her behind into the side if she needed to, yet was not able to back-up. She arrived safe and sound!

Tracy-me neither! It is my first, although several years ago, my daughter had a foal out of her mare-but it was "her" baby. This time I told her, it is "my" baby! I get to have the fun stuff too, not just the problems and expense, like I did with hers!

I plan on keeping it, regardless of sex. I want a good riding horse and the sire and dam are very nice.
