I was wondering how I get Oxytocin to give my mare Post-Breeding? Do most just ask their vet? I do know the dangers of comming in to contact with the stuff so you don't have to warn me. I took the short course.:-) Thanks for any help...

We keep a couple of doses on hand JUst in case that we bought from the vet. We don't give it unless the mare has a really rough time passing the placenta.

Oxytocin is a restricted drug that must be obtained from your veterinarian.

It's not particularly an issue if you come into contact with it - I suspect you're thinking of Regumate. I still wouldn't recommend dripping it on you intentionally or injecting it accidentally, but it doesn't have the same degree of absorption through the skin that Regumate and some of the other drugs do.
