Jos- Are there any complications or side affects to short cycling in multiple back to back cycles. I have read this might be done for harvesting oocytes when performing ETs. My need is because I short cycled a mare and then missed her ovulation as she wasn't showing heat (teasing or thru ultrasound). Regardless, is short cycling again in the appropriate time frame considered normal and standard practice as long as there is a CL present.
There is no issue with repeatedly short-cycling with Prostaglandin F2α. There have been suggestions that there is a reduction in fertility in repeatedly breeding and flushing after repeatedly short-cycling, but that reduction is related to the breeding/flushing aspect, not the short-cycling.
Definitely, short-cycling after missing a single cycle is not going to make any difference.
