May seem a dumb question or been done before, but was hoping for some info as to how long can you leave/store chorulon once reconstituted in refridgerator and can it be refreezed if dont use all. I currently only have 5000IU vials and have some pony mares that dont require full dose but would prefer not to waste it if I can.
Divide up your reconstituted doses into individual syringes. You can probably get 3 doses out of a 5,000 iu vial (range of "normal" doses are 1500-3300 iu), or maybe 4 as you are dealing with smaller ponies (response has been seen as low as 750 iu with full sized horses, but at a lower ovulatory rate than the 1500-3300 dosage range).
You can freeze the unused syringes for use within the same breeding season, or you can refrigerate them for use within the next 2 or 3 weeks.
When thawing, thaw in your hand, not in extreme temperatures or the microwave!
thanks ever so much for that Jos, really appreciate the imput, will try it and see how I go
