What are the chances of putting 3 maiden mares, on Regumate for 14 days giving Estrumate shot on day 15, having them all cycle together, be AI'd and ovulate by the next morning ultrasound? Well, I did it and my vet said in his humorous voice, that it wouldn't work that easily! The cycling yes, but not the rest! We did our 16 day check and all 3 mares are in foal! I am excited and happy, not so sure about the stallion, he only got to get collected one day! I am a newby at this AI stuff, and with the help of a great breeding vet, have a 100% conception rate on one cycle, with a very young stallion. Last year, we bred 10 mares, this year he will breed 15...3 down!

WOW I am impressed and congratulations on your success! and start sleeping now because I bet they don't co-operate when they all foal out :-)

Sleep will pretty much be a forgotten luxury! This year we have a foal due every 2 weeks, from April until Mid June...I love the foaling though, the staying up watching the foal cam, you learn so much about your mares after a couple of weeks! Of course, none of our mares due, we have foaled previously, they are either maidens, or we purchased them, and no breeding/foaling history accompanied them! This year, we are cheating a bit, we just bought a foal alert, and are trying the milk test strips, not sure it will get me any more sleep though, as I am so conditioned to stay up for days and weeks on end, constantly watching! As for these 3 mares...I would have been thrilled if we were able to get them all bred within the same week! Yesterday, after we checked the 1st 2 mares, and they were pregnant, I was getting worried for the 3rd, as she was the only one that acted pregnant, lol....figured it was too good to be true! Now if I can just keep these girls preggers, we'll really be laughing!

Great job! I tried that once with 2 Maidens and neither one conceived :-( The next cycle one did conceive but the other one we never did get pregnant. Foaling time will be very interesting!

I would call that amazing lucky or something. It didn't work that way for my two mares. :-(

My vet said it was because he just bought a brand new fancy ultrasound machine, that he is wanting to get more familiar with before breeding season here hits full swing, and my maiden mares just aren't so interested in being lab rats!

this year we will be breeding on close dates...first already done on
Mar 4, next two on about March 23, next April 1 and so on....I like to have a compressed foaling/breeding season and it looks like it is working out like that for me. We only have one mare that is outside Mar-april time frame and we will hold her over to next year when she foals in July.
