I have a mare that we started on P&E on 4/4. Gave it 10 days. Gave prostin on day ten. Checked her today. She has size 25 follicles on each ovary. No edema. Cervix about halfway. This is a big warmblood mare, so I gave 4cc P&E per day. We had her cultured (with cytology) and checked progesterone to be sure she was not in transition and all looked great.

What can cause this sort of thing? The stallion is only collected MWF and I fear that if we wait for Friday she will have already finished.

Very frustrated.....

I have a 16 year arab/quarter mare. she had a marble inserted in 2004. it seemed to work great. I was told it could stay in indefinately unless hse expelled it. July 2006 she came into raging heat, so bad she would not stand up in trailer. Ultrasound showed marble still in - vet opinion that it looked like it has "walled" itself off. no other satisfactory answers to my questions so marble is still in as far as i know. Mare is now on regumate. There have been 2 instances where i have not been able to trailer this mare. Both times as soon as trailer hits a bump mares back end tried to go down. acts as though she is going down. 2 weeks before latest episode she had trailered to a show no problems. Can the marble be causing some kind of problem at a certain time??? This mare has been trailered all over no problems and this seems to have started a year ago and doesn't happen all the time.
