I know that women are told to use a backup method of bith control if they have to take antibiotics while on "the pill". Since the pill is basically hormones I was wondering if regumate is also affected by antibiotic use? Should I be concerned about giving antibiotics to a mare that is requiring regumate to maintain pregnancy?

We had a mare on Regumate but gave her Penacillan and had no problems. Our vet told us to give 20cc of Penacillan along with the Regumate. We did not have any trouble.

Firstly, you might want to read the article about Regumate use in the pregnant mare - you may be surprised at some of the information contained therein (follow the link).
Secondly, no, there is no contraindication relative to the use of antibiotics in the mare that is receiving Regumate. You are not using the Regumate in an attempt to prevent cyclicity and/or ovulation (which it is not completely reliable for anyway), plus which the human cycle is completely different from the equine cycle.
